Annie’s Legacy provides women in Chicago with one-on-one mentoring and life skills that help them become confident contributors to their communities.
- Annie’s Legacy is a nonprofit organization, founded in 2006.
- Our one-on-one mentoring program is unique in Chicago
- The women we help are dealing with domestic abuse, poverty, under-education and under employment
- We work with women in five core areas: budgeting and finance; relationships; personal well-being; employment and personal assistance
- We serve women on Chicago’s South Side, where the incidence of single, unemployed parents is markedly higher than in other areas
Our Mission
To provide resources to women that empower them to become strong, confident contributors to their communities.
Our History
Annie’s Legacy was founded in 2006 by Beverly Billy, who was inspired by her mother’s ability to successfully escape domestic abuse. Beverly recognized the need for a resource center that provides women with knowledge, a sense of empowerment and the skills to become self-reliant.Board Member Bios
